Families Are Nations (FAN)

FAN has supported practical community learning around agroecology and sustainable agriculture, including soil fertility management, pest and disease management, water harvesting, sustainable farming practices, farmer rights and promote the use of organic fertilizer production such as Bokashi, Manure teabag and use of companion plants. Creating practical open spaces for communities to learn by doing, rather than relying solely on classroom-based training has been a big achievement. FAN has supported engaging conversations around agroecology and biodiversity, seed sovereignty and the importance of protecting and strengthening local seed systems, reaching a wide national audience on radio. Through women’s groups and community demonstration activities, more testimonies have been shared from local farmers giving evidenced based reports for advocacy and learning.
